HINCHINBROOKE CUP SEMI FINAL ST. NEOTS 3 STOTFOLD 0
In a game littered with unnessesary cards Stotfold found themselves a goal and a man down at halftime. In an even first half Paul Donnelly hit a low free kick at keeper Lee Crockett and Mark Bryant got back to make a vital goaline clearance on 17 mins. Luke Knight fired over from a good position and after some good work from Ashley Fitton, Ryan Aldrins low strike should have hit the target. Luke Abraham's powerful volley from the left opened the scoring on 40 mins and the home team were given the opportunity to make it 2 when Tommy Hull was judged to have fouled in the box. Before the penalty was taken Bryant was given a second yellow, after pick up an earlier caution for blocking a free kick, the linesman signalled that Mark had questioned an offside before the penalty and Bryant was sent from the pitch. For the fourth time this season Brad Gillham got across and got a good hand on Ishmael Ehui's kick to push it wide. The second goal came half an hour into the second half when Brad parried Ehui's shot from the right to Abraham for him to fire in, and after Paul Donnelly was shown a second yellow for a challenge Matt Kenneford sealed the place in the final 8 minutes from time side footing in a low ball across the box. Brad Gillham, Michael Payne, Paul Donnelly, Mark Bryant, Gareth Cottenden, Tommy Hull, Ryan Mitchell, Louis Lee, Brett Donnelly (Ashley Fitton), Ryan Aldrin, Josh Bickerstaff. NORTH BEDS CHARITY CUP FINAL STOTFOLD 5 LANGFORD 1 @ Biggleswade Town FC.

Langford's hopes for retaining the North Beds Charity Cup were left in tatters as Stotfold netted four second half goals at the Carlsberg Stadium on Wednesday night, thus enabling them to add the Taygroup backed trophy – which is now in its 101st year – to their League Cup success of two weeks earlier. The Reds had enjoyed the freedom of the park in the opening 45 minutes and while they took an early lead in front of the evening's 155 fans, they missed three good opportunities to extend that advantage before the Rokermen drew level with a slightly controversial 44th minute penalty. Cup holders Langford had already given notice of their intentions when Rob Groves sent a seventh minute free kick across the Stotfold box for teammate Lee Harman. And he got in front of his marker to beat goalkeeper Brad Gillham with an angled drive. Moments later the same combination and a couple of neat flicks almost added a second while Reds skipper Adam Pitcairn then set up Lee Pateman whose effort drifted the wrong side of the post, the pacy Harman once again being denied at the expense of a corner by the alert Gillham. Twice Ryan Aldrin tested Steve Young in the Langford goal with shots from outside the box while it was Groves who set up Ben L'Honore for what looked to be a certain second for the Reds although his effort went inches the wrong side of the upright. But with the break fast approaching, Stotfold made one last ditch push and after a scramble inside Young's six yard box, skipper Pitcairn was adjudged to have pulled Stuart Lochhead back and that gave Brett Donnelly chance to make it 1-1 from the penalty spot. Two minutes into the new half it was 2-1 when Lochhead sent a blistering 22 yard free kick around the wall to beat Young at his near post and when Joel Mason cleverly flicked on for Donnelly in the 53rd minute, he scored Stotfold's third with a deft touch. Aldrin then contrived to miss an open goal as the tide completely turned in the United Counties League side's favour and while referee Andy Medlock began dishing out yellow cards like confetti at a wedding, the luckless Mark Bryant found himself taking an early shower with 20 minutes left following a needless second booking after he chased a 50/50 ball along with Langford's Ross Scotney and the two merely clipped one another's heels. Even so, the ten men continued to create chances and with two minutes left a 25 yard angled cross from the left by Luke Gregson dipped into the far side of the Langford net for 4-1 with Young stranded on the edge of his six yard box. And in stoppage time it was Donnelly who brought up the nap hand and his hat-trick with a second penalty kick, although by then the Reds had completely surrendered. Gillham, Hull, Bryant, Bickerstaff, Cottenden, Lochhead, Mitchell, Gregson, B Donnelly, Mason (P Donnelly 70), Aldrin. Subs not used: Smith, Bowskill. Report courtesy of Biggleswade Chronicle
